Prolific letter-writer Bob Russell has been keeping Colchester town hall busy with hundreds of messages needing to be dealt with.
Colchester MP Mr Russell has been penning daily epistles to the town hall, including about 120 to the chief executive alone.
Colchester Council has had to deal with 407 letters written by the MP in 2005 - an average of more than one a day.
By comparison, all the other MPs serving the north Essex area put together managed 442 between them.
The figures were released to the Evening Gazette after a Freedom of Information request.
Mr Russell defended the large postbag. He said: "People must draw their own conclusions. I am pursuing matters raised by my constituents which are issues of concern.
"If my letters nearly total the combined letters of Harwich, North Essex, Braintree, Saffron Waldon and Maldon, I am only interested in representing my constituents to the best of my abilities."
North Essex MP Bernard Jenkin recently accused Mr Russell in the House of Commons of having a personal vendetta against Colchester Council's plans for the St Botolph's regeneration project.
